Southern Pickleball Association’s Code of Conduct for Players and Spectators
Introduction
The Southern Pickleball Association is committed to promoting a positive and respectful environment for players, spectators, volunteers, and staff at all tournaments and events. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all participants, ensuring a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
General Principles
Respect for All Individuals
Treat all players, officials, spectators, and volunteers with dignity, fairness, and respect.
Avoid any behavior or language that is discriminatory, harassing, or abusive in nature.
Show empathy and understanding toward others, regardless of their skill level, background, or personal circumstances.
Sportsmanship
Exhibit good sportsmanship both on and off the court.
Accept decisions made by referees and officials with grace, even when disagreements arise.
Celebrate wins with humility and accept losses with dignity.
Respect for Property
Refrain from damaging or misusing equipment, facilities, or personal property belonging to others.
Report any incidents of theft, damage, or vandalism to event organizers immediately.
Compliance with Rules and Policies
Abide by the official rules of pickleball, as well as any tournament-specific guidelines.
Follow the instructions of event organizers, referees, and other officials to ensure the smooth operation of tournaments.
Refrain from engaging in any activities that disrupt the event or jeopardize the safety of others.
Do not misrepresent oneself by creating multiple profiles in pickleball management and rating platforms.
Spectator Responsibilities
Cheer and support players respectfully, without taunting, jeering, or using offensive language.
Stay within designated spectator areas and avoid interfering with gameplay.
Supervise children and pets to ensure their safety and prevent disruptions.
Reporting Violations
Anyone witnessing a violation of this Code of Conduct is encouraged to report it to tournament staff. Reports should include specific details about the incident to facilitate an appropriate response.
Consequences for Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in:
Verbal or written warnings
Removal from the event or venue
Suspension or banning from future tournaments and events
Other disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate by the Southern Pickleball Association
